The Service
01
Herd Decompression
Out in the field with quiet companions, 24 hours a day. We help racehorses decompress after a busy season's racing. Thirty-five acres of Test Valley AONB gives them somewhere genuinely quiet to let down.
02
Expert Monitoring
Daily checks for weight, leg heat, behavioural changes and general condition. Kate's professional network — vet, farrier, physiotherapist — is available throughout. All observations are documented and trainers receive regular updates. Nothing is left to chance.
03
Ready to Work
In the final two weeks, feed is increased and regular handling stepped up so the horse arrives back at the yard manageable and ready for road walking from day one. A full written report covers condition on arrival, what was observed throughout, and anything the trainer needs to know.
Why This Is Different
"A spelling yard that understands thoroughbreds from the inside — not just as animals to be rested, but as athletes whose minds need to be genuinely quiet before the body can follow."
Kate is an RoR Approved Retrainer with direct experience of thoroughbreds across rehabilitation, retraining and polo. The yard's herd-based, open-sided barn design removes the isolation stress — which is often the thing that prevents a proper rest. Throughput direct from Flat and Jump Yards for retraining, with a history of successful development into other competition careers including: Polo, Point to Point, Endurance, Eventing and Riding Club.
